Fantasy Fest 2008
The Lazy Dog float, featured in Reuters!

Our float theme was Obama Mia, a political theme set to the music from Mama Mia (ABBA).
Costume suggestions included 70's attire (i.e. bell bottom pants, jumpsuits, big collars,
powder blue or white pants, big hair).
Obama Mia
Tis a night for political action, about whatís most important to me and to you
Itís about the state of this once great nation, about our now fragile red, white and blue
This fantasy partysí democracy leans neither left nor right
Itís rather about this broken system & its once strong currency
now valued quite lite.
Both candidates what us to take a chance
New hope for a change? Or a maverick to make it right?
The news is full of buzzwords, celebrity abounds
But where are the policy questions you blood thirsty hounds?
The corporate bubba system grows stronger and continues to thrive
While streets like Duval remain empty where locals are the only ones who drive
Tonight we scream from the float tops we are going to take it no more
We are donning our polyester and hitting the disco floor
For good times in this country need to be had once more!
So enjoy the mimicry inspiring political thought
And remember all you voters, pick the candidate whoís least bought!
What is Fantasy Fest?
It's our own mini-Mardi Gras here in Key West.

The week of Fantasy Fest culminates with the official Fantasy Fest Parade on the Saturday night of the last weekend in October, every year. The Lazy Dogs built and entered their first parade float back in 1998.
There have been between 65 to 85 float entries each year of which the judges pick 12 to receive awards. Every one of our Fantasy
Fest Parade float entries has won a judges award. That has never been our motivation to build a float, nor has it ever dictated what we
choose to build... but we're proud of our record.
